Received a backflow notice from your municipality?
Backflow preventer testing, surveys and installation for commercial, industrial and multi-residential properties across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Spec-Mark Group is a backflow prevention contractor based in Scarborough. Our backflow testers hold ASSE certification; the certificates are listed on the Qualifications page. Tell us who sent the notice and what it asks for. We book the work and file the report with your municipality.
What a notice can ask for
Every GTA program asks for one or more of these, by the date on the notice.

Cross-connection survey
A walkthrough of the property's water uses and connections to find where drinking water could be contaminated, and the devices needed.

Device installation
A backflow preventer of the type the hazard requires, installed under a plumbing permit, with the first test filed.

Annual test
A short visit with a calibrated test kit. The device is tagged and the report goes to your municipality.

Repair or retest
You approve the repair scope first. In Toronto the retest happens within 72 hours of the repair.
We tell you what the notice requires, book the visit, file the report with a copy to you, and remind you before the next test is due. Backflow and plumbing services
Each municipality sets its own deadlines and permit rules. Find your municipality
