About Spec-Mark Group
Our work protects the public drinking water supply from contamination by backflow. Spec-Mark Group is an independent backflow prevention contractor based in Scarborough. We serve commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential properties across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

What we do
We also maintain boilers and rooftop units, and install gas piping, for buildings where we look after the backflow devices. Heating and cooling
How we work
- We apply for permits, file each test and survey report with the municipality and send you a copy.
- We start a repair or an installation only after you approve its scope.
- We plan any water shutdown with you, around tenants, kitchens or production.
- We send a courtesy reminder before each device's next test is due; the due date remains the owner's responsibility.
- For a client with several properties, we keep one device list, one test schedule and one set of records.
Who we buy from
We install backflow preventers from three manufacturers whose assemblies are certified to CSA B64, in our experience stocked by GTA wholesalers, and supported with repair kits for years after installation. It means a failed assembly can usually be repaired rather than replaced.
Logos are trademarks of their owners and identify the products we install.
Zurn Wilkins. Reduced-pressure and double check assemblies across the sizes we install, from ¾-inch hose connections to large commercial services.
Watts. The LF009 reduced-pressure assembly in our field notes, the LF909, and the LF007 double check, plus the rubber and relief-valve kits that keep them in service.
Apollo (Aalberts). Reduced-pressure and double check assemblies for commercial services.
- Certification. Each model we install is certified to the CSA B64 standard for its type, and we include that certification in the permit application.
- Repair kits. When an assembly fails its annual test, a rubber kit or a relief-valve module usually restores it in one visit. That depends on the manufacturer still supplying parts for the model on your wall. Repairs use the manufacturer's own parts.
- Stock. In our experience, GTA wholesalers usually have these brands in stock, which shortens the wait for a replacement.
If your building already has assemblies from another manufacturer, we test and repair those too. We recommend replacement only when repair is not practical; the debris field note explains when. The debris field note explains how we decide.
