The City of Vaughan’s Commercial Backflow Prevention By-law
According to the City of Vaughan’s website, on December 13, 2020, the City approved the new Backflow Prevention By-law 177-2020. This by-law is crucial for monitoring potential hazards that could contaminate the Municipal Drinking Water System. It is designed to protect over 1,200 kilometers of regulated water mains and nearly 100,000 water service connections, all monitored and maintained by the Water Services Department.
The primary objective of the Backflow Prevention Program is to ensure the safety of Vaughan’s water, making it secure for both business and residential use.
The City of Vaughan’s Backflow Prevention Program, outlined in By-law 177-2020, aims to safeguard the city’s water quality. It mandates the installation of backflow prevention devices that block the introduction of contaminants into the drinking water system.
